Visit to Honfleur
Sandwich Honfleur Twinning Association will be making its biennial visit to its twin town of Honfleur in the summer of 2019. This year’s trip is particularly special since it marks the 60th anniversary of the exchange’s inception. A group of around 45 will travel by coach on Thursday 20th and return on Sunday 23rd June. They will spend the three nights with host families in the beautiful coastal town of Honfleur.
Many of the group have visited the town before and will be staying with old friends, however it will be the first sighting of the Normandy harbour and its surrounding area for a considerable number and they will be looking forward to the food, drink, culture and whole experience with relish.
The participants from Sandwich can expect to be warmly greeted and treated to a combination of relaxed informality as well as a more traditionally French formal reception including the opening of a new road to be called ‘Rue de Sandwich’. The four-day visit will emphasise the strong bonds of friendship and harmony forged over many years between the representatives of both towns.
