Le Weekend, Sandwich
The authentic French Market will be back for its 9th year, on the Guildhall Forecourt on both Saturday and Sunday, with extra stalls in Market Street. There will be room to sit and relax and watch the street concerts. There will be lots of free outdoor live music on both days in Market Street and a French Breton street dancing party in No Name Street on both days. SHTA will have a stall in Market Street to promote our activities and would be delighted if you could volunteer to man the stall for a short period over the weekend. Please contact our secretary Sandra Jones email sandraroach2000@yahoo.co.uk
There will be an Anglo French Medieval encampment on both days on the quay green. This year’s Le Medieval Weekend is set to be an exciting fun packed weekend of Anglo-French medieval life and combat demonstrations. See a range of crafts including The blacksmith, a scribe, the first printing press, wheat weaving, coin striking, medieval traders plus many more.
Enjoy music and merriment provided by sandwich based band Rough Musicke, a Companye of strangers and this year we have our very own tavern band Grimalkin from Canterbury working with special guest James Poulton telling some of the stories of Chaucers Canterbury tales in its original form.
Returning this year we are delighted to welcome back Les Chevaliers du Comte de Boulogne & The Free Men of Blean providing the thrills of medieval combat and living history.
